A Move Mailbox operation fails between 2007 and 2010 with the error message “Unable to synchronize manifest”

Hi folks,

I’m migrating a customer to Exchange Server 2010 and in just a few mailboxes I was having a fail and the error message “Unable to synchronize manifest”, and I found out that the customer used Quest a long time ago for an Active Directory/Exchange migration.

The long story short, is to solve this issue you can move the affected mailboxes to another mailbox on the same Exchange Server 2007 and afterwards the Move Request will work like a charm to your new Exchange Server 2010.
