Troubleshooting Event ID 15021 in Exchange Server 2013

In this Tutorial we are going to analyze the Event ID 15021 on Exchange Server 2013 which may be caused by a certificate issue. If you are experiencing the following issue this Tutorial may help you to solve the issue.

Event ID 15021 – Source HttpEvent

An error occurred while using SSL configuration for endpoint <IP>:443. The error status code is contained within the returned data.

Solution


If you are experiencing the following issue after managing a certificate on an Exchange Server 2013, then this Tutorial is for you.

First stop is to check the logs using Event Viewer, make sure that you see the event id 15021 on that area.

The error indicates that the IP is 127.0.0.1, so the next step is to open IIS Manager, and then on the Default Web Site, click on Bindings.., and on the list of protocols, ports and IPs, we are going to choose 127.0.0.1 and 443 (since that was the information provided in the Event ID 15021).

If you don’t see a certificate associated, then that is most likely the issue that you are having. Make sure that you associate a certificate and click on OK and Close. Just to make sure that everything is good, you can run the following command to refresh all settings:

iisreset
